Grounded Theatre Company is a new and exciting nonprofit (501 c 3) Theatre Company in Philadelphia. Our mission is to present the African Diaspora stories on the stage. This company is the brainchild of our Artistic Director, Shav'on Smith, who is a graduate of Morgan State University (2009), Baltimore, MD. Shav'on started the company because most theatre companies tend to gate-keep and make it difficult for new voices and actors to come in with new ideas and stories, and she believes that the same Black stories were constantly being told. The Grounded Theatre Company is here to tell the Black narratives that are constantly cast aside and forgotten.
